 Sealmet - SB

Long-Term Oxidation Protection for Metals

Water-Based, Paintable Coating for:
- Stainless
- Alloy Steels
- Carbon Steels
- Low-Alloy Steels

Provides extended reduction in surface oxidation and protection from chemical attack with a dense, fused, electrically insulating layer of high hardness and superior adherence during thermal cycles.

SEALMET is a ready-to-use coating that applies like house paint – safe and easy. The coating allows a thin layer(2 to 6 mils) to form an impervious bond-coat on metals when heated to 1300 C (2400 F). Thus, oxidation and high temperature chemical attack of metals can be controlled by application of this refractory, electrically insulating coating.

USE INSTRUCTIONS
Clean the surface to be coated of oils, dirt, scale, etc.; note that water, alcohol, or alkaline cleaners are preferred. Apply 1 or 2 coatings by brush or spray; air-dry each coat. For water-insolubility, cure at 350 C (660 F) or higher; often this step can be performed during first heatup. Clean utensils with water.
Initial light grit-blasting can give better adherence, but requires thorough cleaning before coating. If air-spraying, heating the substrate to about 140 C (285 F) yields good coatings.
